February is fast approaching, and the 2017 Hands for Peace Conference is one you’re not going to want to miss! Kiawah island is a perfect place to recapture your Montessori spirit and gather inspiration and practical tools to take back to your classrooms and schools. Be sure to block out this special time in your Montessori path, February 24th, 25th and 26th. Jonathan Wolff will be our keynote speaker on Friday and Michael Dorer will be a guest speaker on Saturday

Jonathan Wolff, with over 30 years of experience as an educator and administrator, is the founder and director of Learning for Life and Montessori Leadership. He has numerous publications for teachers, leaders and parents. These can be found at http://www.jonathanwolff.org/catalog.html

Michael Dorer specializes in Montessori curriculum, teacher education and storytelling. A former president of AMS and founder of Montessori programs at St. Catherine University and Westminster College.  He is also the author of a new book The Deep Well of Time.

In addition, we have a great line up of workshops, with new voices and longstanding favorites. With a variety of topics to meet the needs of all levels of educators and leaders.

Kiawah Island is located on a private barrier island just 40 minutes from historic downtown Charleston South Carolina. Beach combing, alligator sightings, bird watching, golfing and biking are just a few of the activities you can plan to fill your cup during your time on the island. ( As if you needed another reason to attend, the gourmet food is FANTASTIC!) Dinner, dancing, the silent auction, games, group art projects and a great line up of exhibitors are just cherries on top this incredible experience!

Last year’s attendees had this to say about MEPI’s first year on Kiawah Island.

  • “I look forward to this conference every year! And this one didn’t disappoint!”
  • “Can’t wait to come back next year.”
  • “Beautiful as always. I leave full and satisfied :-)”
  • “Enjoyed it so much!”
  • “Loved everything! Seeing everyone with the same passion reignited my passion!”

Coming soon will be a Facebook event page for those looking for roommates or ride share to/from the airport. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to receive the most recent updates regarding the conference!

We’re also looking in to lining up school tours in Charleston and the surrounding areas, on Thursday the 23rd .  If this is something you may want to participate in please indicate your interest at the following poll and plan to come a day early!

MEPI conferences are great opportunities for you to reconnect with your team, meet other like-minded professionals and to share your passion for Montessori education with guides across the United States and internationally!

While you’ve got your calendar out, go ahead and schedule the 2018 conference. February 23-25th. Once again, at Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

We’re counting down the days until February and we look forward to seeing you!
