Gathered from the hastily and grim news, Macduff, Lennox, Macbeth, Banquo and Lady Macbeth were talking quietly to one another, seen by people inside the castle. As servants remembered how Macduff quickly exited the chamber this morning and saw how alarmed he looked as he rushed to find help, yet he knew it was already too late. Everyone knew how much Macduff loved to serve the Old Man during the war and must have been heartbroken. One of the royal guards told us how Lady Macbeth was so devastated that she ended up fainting.
She was later carried to the nurse to be checked out. Next to Macbeth, Banquo was well liked by the Old Man but he couldn’t believe such evil and thought Macduff was lying. As for Lennox, he didn’t react as much like the others but he looked curious and couldn’t stop looking at Macbeth oddly. Knowing how close they all were to him, they will all miss the Old Man very much. Many have dreamt of being King or Queen one day, but Lennox became aware that the Old Man could have been killed by his own two guards.
Near to the entrance to his chamber, the two guards were found dead but their missing daggers were surprisingly lying on the Old Man’s pillow. If it were the guards, what good it is for them? Could someone had paid them to do the deed? Later in that morning, Macbeth confesses to killing the guards out of anger and had too much respect for the Old Man if it was the guards who killed him. For our country to recover, the next step is finding another man to be King of Scotland.
Having to find out their father’s death from Macduff, Malcolm and Donalbain were mournful of their sudden lost. Malcolm, being heir to throne, was seen by servants talking to his brother silently with panic on both faces and was later caught putting on warm clothes. Immediately, people started to look for the sons but couldn’t be found. Some heard that the sons had fled the country in separate directions, Malcolm heading to England and Donalbain bounded for Ireland. It has created suspicion to many if the sons had anything to do with their father’s murder.
With both gone now, Scotland raced to find our next noble king. Scotland had just won the war between the Norwegians; yet, the throne needs to be filled quickly since we could possibly be attacked anytime. We need a king that can lead our country to greatness and is fearless to any that crosses our path. Being next to serve as king, Macbeth has now been crowned King of Scotland. As this is going faster than usual, traditions of a ceremony for the new king will be held this afternoon at Scone, where many admirable kings had been given the title.
Macbeth has many qualities to be king since his is faithful to our country and a brave warrior during the recent war. All of these is what our country needs right now. Many have been talking about how strange the weather has been lately, including an elderly man and one of the Scottish noblemen, Ross. “I remember looking outside from my window around noon to see darkness blocking the sun, as if the day had been conquered by the night. ” Ross explains. He adds that he witnessed the Old Man’s graceful horses were acting wildly last night and appeared to be in war with our kind, which was odd to him.
The elderly man agreed and said that he saw something unnatural also. Last Tuesday afternoon, he saw a bold falcon soaring in the sky when suddenly, a typical owl attacked and fed off it. He had never seen anything like that, he said. Somehow, both men see a connection to the murder of the Old Man to these strange events happening lately. The weather of the night of the Old Man’s murder has many saying they clearly remember it being terribly windy and had heard people scream to the ground light shaking.
Though only destruction was the chimneys, people kept on hearing noises from an owl which brought concerns for the future since many believe it is a bird of darkness and death. Connecting to the past events, most people are talking about why the earth is acting differently these days and had concluded that the earth is upset with mankind and is giving warnings by threatening us with violent storms. Although we had lost our Old Man, he will never be forgotten. As for the sons, who knows when they will return but we have gained a new era of greatness from our loyal King Macbeth. -Deborah Dawit
