The education organizations all around the world are facing a high a pressure to integrate the Information technology to their educational systems and that is to convey the new technology era and also to build a new generation of professional graduates who can easily deal with new information technology systems and full qualified to affiliate with industrial and technological and commercial businesses which build on the usage of high –tech, and from this point of view the integration of IT in education doesn’t considered a selection for Palestinian community but it becomes something necessary and needful in order to be adapted with the requirements of our century.
According to this, planning to integrate the IT in education must occupy the highest priority in the work schedule of the ministry of education, ministry of planning and development, ministry of Information technology and by all politicians and decision makers in our country. So, according to our similar qualifications and experience as a development team for such a project we chose this project because we believe of its important for our community and we hope that the Palestinian government will accept and adopt this project according the work schedule that we will offer in this project master plan. Resources Schedule The main work schedule will be based on software engineering process since that the project is an information system, and here is the schedule on a software engineering overview: Requirements collection phase Problem:
Our problem is to change the way of offering courses in schools, colleges and universities to be offered online instead of the traditional educational systems that are based on having to attend lectures, exams, buying books handouts and other resources and having to bring them with you when you come to the university school or college. The new way that we offer will make it easy for students to attend lectures from their homes, also it gives them an advantage of having an opportunity to work besides studying, because this new way of study is more flexible than the old and traditional ways. Overview of the Project: Our project is a technology project.
It is a development of E-Learning information system; and as it is known, such a system can be applied in the education process in general, I mean that this project can be applied to serve the education at schools, colleges and universities; applying such a computerized and inexpensive system will improve the education process and will be considered as conveying to the new technology era, and it is a facilitating tool for both teachers and students since it is done online without any stress or having to attend hour lectures in large hall which sometimes become noisy, in addition, as we all know the internet is an open and free source to search for information and it contains billions of books and resources which makes the e – learning system that we will apply in our country to be more beneficial for students. e-Learning is the online delivery of information, communication, education, and training. E-Learning provides a new set of tools that can add alue to all the traditional learning modes-classroom experiences, textbook study, CD- ROM, and traditional computer based training. Old-world learning models don’t scale to meet the new world learning challenge. E-Learning can provide the tools to meet that challenge. Feasibility Study: 1-introduction:
In our feasibility study we will investigate how feasible our project will be, and whether our project is applicable or not, and how much our project is compatible with the domain we are studying to apply in. We have to study the motivations for doing the work, the circumstances in which we will work. And this is of course the second activity after meeting the users to collect their requirements and performing the project’s environment analysis. 2- Background about the Situation: All processes and transactions in the traditional educational systems are performed manually. So our project is to automate these processes and to make everything performed in a paperless, more flexible and easier than before. 3-Technical Background:
We have to gain a technical background by studying some e – learning systems that are already developed in some other countries, collect some information about the environment where those systems are applied, and about the users of those systems and examine their satisfaction of those systems, also we have to study the technologies used in those old systems and compare these technologies with the new available technologies. It would be beneficial if we can determine the main efforts and activities performed in developing those systems. also we have not to forget to study the problems of those old systems in order to avoid facing them when developing our system.
This activity is a very important activity because it makes us sure that our project is feasible and it define the main points of the project. 4- Technical Requirements and Criteria: We have to determine the technical needs for applying our project, so we have to specify the hardware and all requirements and tools that are needed to perform the project, besides this we have to examine the availability of such a resources and will be important to make a decision of buying or hiring these equipments. 5 – Conclusion: We concluded that the e- learning project is feasible to be performed and There is a serious need for applying such a project in Palestine.
And a lot of institutes and ministries are ready to support and help in implementing such a project. Besides this a lot of users who will use such a system are fully motivated to deal with such a system. 6- Recommendations: I recommend that the government and ministry of education and other institutes that will support the project to start preparing an environment of applying the project in all Palestinian schools, universities and colleges, and to start acquiring the needed resources for the project. Solution: The proposed solution is to change to using technology in learning and education in all educational organizations regardless wither they are public or private organizations.
This will require us to work as a development team with the support and commitment of the government to develop a computerized system that will facilitate the educational process, of course we need to follow the software engineering process in developing such a huge system as the following: 1-requirements collection: in this phase we have to do the following: •Identify and define the problem, •Prepare a project overview and introduction. •Perform a feasibility study. •Meeting users and collect their requirements. •Perform a domain analysis. •Make a detailed study of the project environment. • Define all the needed resources and check their availability. •Develop a work plan. •Develop a work breakdown structure. • Define main tasks and procedures. •Forming the development team. •Distribute the responsibilities and programming tasks and sub-tasks. •Forming work schedule. Develop the main diagrams that programmers need to start programming like use case diagram, class diagram, sequence diagram, and activity diagram. The development of these diagrams will be the job of the software engineer. •Design the database, and this can be done by a professional programmer. •Design the user interface and this also can be performed by a professional programmer. •Determine the servers to be used, it is preferable in our case to use 3 servers one of them as a database server, the second one as an application server, and the last one to work as web server. •Start programming. •Testing and validation. •And then the delivery of the project.
