Firstly, animals’ rights and freedom are breached when they are used in research. Any animal should receive respectful treatment. Animals and people are alike in many ways; both think, feel, behave and experience pain. Therefore animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. Yet animals’ freedom are ruptured because they are not given a choice. These defenceless creatures are put through tests or experimentations that cause permanent damage or death and are never given the option not to be involved in the process. For example, mice are often carelessly handled and are forced down onto surfaces while having vital injections and poisons released into their delicate bodies. The end results aren’t always pleasant. Animals do not sacrifice themselves by will just for the sake of humankind.
Next, the agonizing pain and suffering that animals are involved in is not worth any advantages to humans. Animal pain is an unpleasant and emotional experience. It ascends to a specific part of the body and causes extreme damage. Animals feel pain much more than humans do. When animals are used for labatory research or toxic testing, they are encountered to painful and often deadly experiments. Products or substances being tested are frequently placed in the eyes of an animal. Even though people do monitor the animal for damage, intense pain is caused for the animal. Blindness, scarring and death are generally the results at the end.
Furthermore, the testing of products on animals is completely unnecessary because practical alternatives are available. According to research, many cosmetic companies have sought better ways to test their products without the use of animal matter. They properly develop products that use natural ingredients such as oils and fruits as well as others only with safe human usage. Researchers and scientists can test the potential damage that a product can do to human skin by using and experimenting with artificial skin, instead of testing on animals. As experimental animals do or may have certain diseases or side effects, if unchecked products are applied or used on human skin there may be chances of suffering the same fate.
In conclusion, animal testing should be eliminated because it seizes the rights of animals and ruptures their freedom. It causes pain and suffering to the experimental animals. Many other alternatives are available instead of randomly torturing and executing thousands of animals per year to test products or perform labatory experiments. All animals should be treated with a high level of respect. After all, humans are animals too. Do not be a part of the selfish race humanity is becoming, make a difference.
