Maria Varela Bio:
Native from San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1994 received a Bachelor Degrees in Arts with a minor in Italian Language from the University of Puerto Rico; and acquired three Montessori Certifications in three different levels. First Montessori certification completed in 1996, an American Montessori Society-AMS in Early Childhood / Primary level, 3 to 6 years old. A second one, in 2003 from Montessori Educational Programs International-MEPI in Infants and Toddlers Program ages 0 to 3 years old. A third one, in 2004 from MEPI as a Teachers Trainer to prepare future Montessori teachers in the Infants and Toddlers Program ages 0 to 3 years old.
Maria Varela has fifteen years of experience as a teacher in the Montessori Education, eleven years in the Nueva Escuela Montesori in San Juan, Puerto Rico and four years as Head Teacher of the Toddlers’ Program at the Palmetto Montessori School. Also, three years of experience as Program Director of the Institute for Guided Studies- IGS for Infant and Toddlers Teacher Preparation Program. This year she accepts the responsibility to be the Head Teacher in the Primary level and work as the School Program Manager for the Toddlers’ Program at the Palmetto Montessori School.
Lately, Maria Varela has been working as a Spanish Instructor at the Shaw Air Force Base Community Center with different age’s groups. She is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English languages.
